Kiwi News

About Kiwi News.

How Kiwi News works, how every story is sourced and checked, and how we date and correct what we publish.

What Kiwi News is

Kiwi News is dated, sourced news and analysis for UK care providers: care homes, nursing homes, supported living, learning disability and mental health services. It covers CQC and inspection, funding and fees, workforce and pay, immigration and sponsorship, law and policy, and digital and data. Every story ends with "What this means for your service": practical steps, in plain English.

Who publishes it

Kiwi News is published by Kiwi, care home software for UK care homes, under the Kiwi News desk byline. We don't put invented names on stories. Kiwi was founded by a former registered manager who spent 15 years running care homes during his career, including learning disability, mental health and nursing homes and supported living services. That experience shapes what we choose to cover and the questions we ask.

How we source and check

  • We go to primary sources first: GOV.UK, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Home Office, CQC, NHS England, legislation.gov.uk, Parliament, Skills for Care, the ONS and other official bodies.
  • Every number and date in a story is checked against its source before we publish. Each source is listed at the end of the story with the date we checked it.
  • Trade press is only ever a second source, and always linked.
  • Proposals and consultations are labelled as proposed, not law. We say which UK nations a change applies to.
  • Quotes are short, attributed and never invented.

Kiwi News is researched and drafted with the help of AI tools. Every fact is checked against its original source before we publish, and every story links to those sources.

Dates, updates and corrections

  • Every story shows the date it was published.
  • If we change the substance of a story later, we show an "Updated" date and a one-line note saying what changed. We never backdate.
  • If we get something wrong, we correct it and say so at the top of the story. See corrections and updates. To tell us about an error, use our contact page.

What we will never do

  • Name, rank or review software products in news stories.
  • Run adverts or sponsored content in Kiwi News.
  • Give legal or immigration advice. Stories that touch the law say so, and point to qualified advisers.
